NEW YORK, January 31, 2006. Scribner and Pocket Books, divisions of the Simon & Schuster Adult Publishing Group, today announced they would publish BLIND FALL, by The New York Times bestselling author, Christopher Rice. The book, to be published in early 2008, is the gripping story of an Iraq war veteran who seeks redemption and revenge when a soldier he betrayed during the war is brutally murdered. Rice's writing has received acclaim from The Washington Post Book World, USA Today and the New York Times. The Times of London said "His novels are becoming as addictive as those of his mother, Anne."

Nan Graham, Editor-In-Chief acquired the American, Canadian and open market rights from Lynn Nesbit at Janklow Nesbit Literary Agency. Mitchell Ivers, Senior Editor at Pocket Books will edit Rice for the Scribner list and Pocket will publish his books in paperback.

"Christopher's second novel THE SNOW GARDEN was a great success for Pocket Books. We look forward to working together with our Scribner colleagues to further propel his books to an even greater level" said Louise Burke, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Pocket Books. A mass market edition of THE SNOW GARDEN was published in January 2004, and LIGHT BEFORE DAY will be published in August 2007.

"I couldn't be more thrilled to be with such a distinguished imprint," said Christopher Rice, "and I'm also overjoyed to be re-committing to the team from Pocket Books that made the mass market paperback of THE SNOW GARDEN such a success. From Greg Iles to Annie Proulx, Scribner has a fine tradition of nourishing and promoting some of my favorite writers. I'm honored to join their ranks and can't think of a better home for my next novel BLIND FALL."

The new hardcover title, BLIND FALL is the first of a two book deal. Susan Moldow, Executive Vice President and Scribner Publisher said "Christopher Rice has carved out a unique territory and has immense talent. We look forward to growing his audience and introducing new readers to his work."
